The Month of the Rosary

OurLadyOfMountCarmel1For us Catholics, October is Respect Life Month, the Month of the Rosary, and the Month of the Missions. The first Sunday of October is Respect Life Sunday. Monday October 7 is the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the third Sunday of October is World Mission Sunday. All of these observances and causes are near and dear to the hearts of the Knights, and I hope you will promote them in any way you can.

The same faith and fraternal charity which move us to cherish the three observances mentioned above move us also to respond with compassion to help and pray for our brothers and sisters who have been displaced or injured, or who have lost their homes, or even loved ones due to the heavy rains and flooding in Colorado. As you pray the Rosary this month, especially remember not only these victims, but also all who are working to assist them. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us!

Friday, October 4, is the memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi, the secondary patron of our diocese. It is also the name day of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. Let us seek the intercession of Saint Francis for the Church in our diocese and, in honor of Pope Francis, for the Church Universal. Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us!

May God bless you and your families.
